The EasyScan uses a TrueConfocal optical design. High quality lasers are used that can be focused down to the narrowest possible width on the retina. By only collecting the light reflected from the narrow area illuminated on the image sensor it is possible to reject light that is scattered from other parts (for example) cataracts in the lens. This results in high quality and contrast images even under challenging conditions.

Small pupil imaging
The patented design of the EasyScan system allows imaging through the smallest pupils. Even patients with pupils of 1.5mm can be imaged. This enables true dilation free imaging. Fully darkening the room and waiting for dark adaptation of the pupils is a thing of the past. This improves the patient throughput and patient comfort.
Multi Spectral Imaging
The EasyScan uses 2 specially selected wavelengths for maximum clinical relevance:
- Green (520nm): provides optimal contrast on blood (truly Red Free imaging), this will clearly show the smallest vessels near the macula and any micro annurisms that might be present.
- Infrared (785nm): the invisible infrared light penetrates deep into the retina allowing the visualization all the way to the RPE layer enabling for example the earliest detection of the changes related to AMD.

Fast and easy to learn imaging
The EasyScan provides on screen guidance to support the alignment. The ergonomic and intuitive design of the device facilitate fast and efficient image taking. Both Automatic and manual focus is supported allowing successful imaging even for patients that are not fully compliant.
