AMD
The earliest changes related to Age related macular degeneration (AMD) start with the build up waste material deep in the retina below the RPE layer. Since visible light is absorbed by the photoreceptors only InfraRed light is able to image these earliest changes. The Infrared laser of the EasyScan TrueConfocal system is capable of clearly imaging these earliest changes enabling earlier detection.
Diabetic Retinopathy
One of the complications of Diabetes is the weakening of the blood vessels resulting in blood leaking out of the vessels in the retina. To maximize the contrast of the blood vessels the EasyScan uses a Green laser. Together with the TrueConfocal optical design this results in high contrast and sharp images that enable more detailed and easier detection of the retinal bleedings and other diabetic complications. Combined with its ability to image through the smallest pupils and (early) cataract make the EasyScan ideal for diabetic screening.
